REAVES GALLERY is a privately owned, commercial fine arts gallery. We are committed to showing original, high quality fine art that our customers can enjoy at affordable prices.

REAVES GALLERY specializes in mid-level and emerging painters and mixed-media artists from the Bay Area. We do not exhibit prints, sculptures, digitally produced photography, video installations, or jewelers.

We are always looking for something new and fresh to add to our collection and review work from dozens of prospective artists each month. We are currently reviewing submissions for artists looking to exhibit work during 2009.

Guidelines

Before you submit your work for review, we recommend you spend some time looking through our website to get a sense of the type of work we carry. Better still, we encourage you to visit REAVES GALLERY to determine if we would be a desired venue in which to exhibit your work.

1. Out of respect to our exhibiting artists and collectors, REAVES GALLERY will not accept unsolicited portfolios during business hours. NO EXCEPTIONS.

2. The first point of contact for all submissions is via email to sharon @ reavesgallery.com. Please include a brief introduction to specific works as well as a link to your website. If you do not have a website, send no more than THREE jpeg images for initial consideration. Please note that we do not review slides or printed materials.

3.  An artist's statement and bio are appreciated as well as a brief statement giving insight to your work and you as an individual as well as why you feel REAVES GALLERY would be a good fit.

4. Work is assessed for its quality, originality, and potential to enhance the collection exhibited by the gallery. Your work will be judged on its own merit regardless of your age, background and/or education.

5. Artists' information will be reviewed by committee consisting of the owner and principal artists.

What To Expect

We appreciate your interest in REAVES GALLERY however due to the volume of submissions, we can not respond to everyone.

Please allow 4-6 weeks for initial review. If your work is selected for further review, you will be contacted to arrange an initial phone interview followed by a one-on-one meeting or studio interview as appropriate. Original works will be reviewed and next steps discussed at that time.

Consignment

All of our works are on consignment from the artist. We have short-term, renewable, non-exclusive contracts with many of our artists. Though our contracts are not exclusive, we do request right-of-first-refusal from our artists, so that we can offer our customers what we believe to be the artist's best work.

All accepted works must be presented ready for installation on our gallery system in a professional looking frame with proper wiring and hardware. Please note delivery to and from the gallery and all framing expenses are at the cost of the artist.

REAVES GALLERY receives a 50% commission for all works sold.
